On August 23, 2025, in Ungma village, Mokokchung district, Nagaland, a significant gathering took place featuring 16 Naga Political Groups (NPGs), 14 tribal hohos, and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR). United through the “Ungma Statement,” they collectively affirmed their commitment to pursue a unified political vision founded on the historical and political rights of the Naga people.
This gathering builds upon earlier milestones in 2025, including the notable January 14 treatise and several reaffirmations throughout the year.
Organized by the Council of Naga Cooperation and Relationship and hosted by Ao Senden, the apex Ao Naga tribal body, the assembly emphasized reconciliation, mutual respect, and a shared direction as the underpinning of future progress.
The “Ungma Statement” underlined that this unified approach should proceed without preconditions or divisive rhetoric, aiming for a future shaped by reconciliation, attentiveness, and concerted action.
